myHarapan is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering young Malaysians by supporting youth projects and
initiatives that contribute to nation-building efforts. One of its mandates is the funding of scalable and sustainable
youth-driven social projects. The primary focus till recently has been on micro-funding. A newly established funding arm
of myHarapan, Social Enterprise Ventures (SEV), is meant to expand its funding activities by enlarging monetary
allotments and enhancing them through industry-sourced coaching sessions. The focus of SEV is on youth-initiated social
businesses – which are enterprises that exist to solve specific social problems for the benefit of local communities.

Eliza advises SEV on investment decisions. She is experienced in the entrepreneurial development field: Eliza was a consultant with MDeC and a partner at Teak Capital; she also served as a director at Says Sdn Bhd, YouthAsia Sdn Bhd and Teak Capital Sdn Bhd.

Yusuf Jaffar heads myHarapan’s SEV, in charge of implementing the fund’s investment strategies. Yusuf possesses excellent expertise in corporate finance, public private partnerships and investment syndication.

Nurfarini has been at the helm of myHarapan for the past three years now. Her background is in finance and accounting. She has extensive start-up training and coaching experience, as well as excellent project coordination skills.
Principal Adviser, Nexea Angels
Alan is the Principal Advisor for Nexea Angels, a venture building company based in Malaysia. An entrepreneur by heart, Alan co-founded a market intelligence agency Pacific Forum (with offices in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore and Tokyo) and an advertising agency Grandmont before his exit in 1997 to start MediaBanc Group, the leading media monitoring and insights company in the region.
In his spare time he coaches young entrepreneurs, gives his time to the Malaysian Business Angel Network as the Honorary Secretary and participates as an investor in many startup companies around Southeast Asia.
Executive Director, Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre
Ehon is an Executive Director of Social Entrepreneurship at Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC). Prior to MaGIC, he co-founded Hub Australia and Spur Projects.
Ehon has passion for creating opportunities through connecting people, capital, and ideas. His work has focused on creating innovative and disruptive impact-focused projects and purpose driven businesses, tapping into the opportunities brought by digital media and technologies.
Ashran is the Chief Executive Officer at the Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC).
Prior to this appointment, he was the President of Malaysian Association of Bumiputera ICT Industry & Entrepreneurs (NEF), the Chairman of New Entrepreneurs Foundation (myNEF) and the Deputy Chairman of Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Foundation (GIEF).
With ventures he has founded such as Asiastream Group and Joota, Ashran offers various perspectives of entrepreneurship development with hands on experience and has a wealth of experience in various industries including Construction, Oil & Gas, Technology, Media, Communications, Event Management, and Human Capital Development.
Executive Vice President, Agensi Inovasi Malaysia
Eddie is the Executive Vice President of Agensi Inovasi Malaysia (AIM), a government agency tasked to spur innovation in Malaysia. He heads the Social Innovation team which looks at promoting innovation in society, through guiding the ideation and enterprise process particularly in young people; and innovation for society, through enablers for social participation.
Eddie started his career in an investment bank and over the years had served in two major multinationals in oil & gas and mobile telecommunications, as well as senior financial and investment positions in publicly listed companies.
CEO, Mountain Partners Malaysia
Hassan is the Chief Executive Officer at Mountain Partners Malaysia, a startup incubator and company builder with headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
Prior to this, he was a Managing Director at Qeerad, an investment firm that had been founded to help entrepreneurs bring ideas to market.
In turn, prior to Qeerad, Hassan co-founded and led WAGO Sdn Bhd, a creative agency in the business of Digital Planning, Event Curation and Brand Development, whose clients included Pemandu, DiGi, TalentCorp, Etiqa, and RHB.
Committee Member, Malaysian Business Angel Network
Jeyasothy is a Committee Member in the Malaysian Business Angel Network (MBAN), the official trade association representing angel investors in Malaysia. He leads the team in charge of Angel Academy initiatives.
Prior to MBAN, Jeyasothy spent five years as a Vice President in an international institute of higher learning where he architected and led a strategic transformation programme in curriculum design and delivery of higher education.
