PROFILE

Sisterhood Alliance is a social enterprise that produces affordable and reusable cloth sanitary pads and, for every 10 sets sold, donates 1 set and also uses the profit from sales to provide training on menstrual hygiene management and various female empowerment topics. Sisterhood Alliance aims to improve livelihoods by 1) delivering a wide range of low-cost products that save consumers money, and 2) building networks of thriving, profitable micro-entrepreneurs.

By manufacturing the cost-effective cloth sanitary pads locally, Sisterhood Alliance is contributing to the development of a Malaysian rural industry that empowers women by creating meaningful employment opportunities, stimulates rural economic development, enables Malaysian school girls to achieve their full academic potential by improving attendance rates, and encourages an ethic of environmental responsibility that reduces the degradation caused by using disposable pads.
